Newsflash

Yesterday all servers in the U.S. went out on strike in a bid to get more RAM and better CPUs. A spokes person said that the need for better RAM was due to some fool increasing the front-side bus speed. In future, busses will be told to slow down in residential motherboards.

The LinuX Files
Alrighty then. I've installed Linux on an older computer. Pentium 3, 512MB RAM, ATI Radeon 9200, ASUS CUSL2C Motherboard and a 60 GB Quantum hard drive. I believe it was March 27th (2007) when I first installed it. So far, so good. Fedora Core 6 was the distro (distribution) and it's available here at the Fedora Project. It's free to download and use on as many computers as you like. It can even bring new life to an older PC, or Mac for that matter. Keep reading and learn some more.

Linux is an OS (Operating System) like Windows except Linux is free. If that's not incentive enough to at least give it a try, then I think the following reasons will at least stir some interest. Everything you can imagine (in regards to computer software) is available, and almost always free as well.

Need an office suite (like MS Office) that works with MS Office? It there, and it's free.

Need graphic tools? There, and free as well.

Development software, server daemons, Internet tools. Yes, yes, yes and free, free and free!

First step is to download the install CDs or DVD, depending on your optical drive.

Once you've downloaded them and verified they have the same checksum, burn the images to CD or DVD.
